Lesbian and Gay Pride

What?
On 16th May 2009, the 14th edition of the Belgian Lesbian & Gay Pride will take place in Brussels. Parades, fiestas, concerts, shows and many surprises in prospect. The homosexual, bi- and transsexual community of Brussels on its annual outing, all waving the unmistakable rainbow flags...
It plays host to other parades from all over Europe, and of course all its supporters, straight or gay.
The parade will begin at 2 pm on the "Boulevard Anspach". At midnight, a popular party will animate the district and shows will take place in "Rainbow Village". The day ends then by a traditional "Pride Party" at "L'Ancienne Belgique" with more than 20 DJ's in 4 different rooms. The festivities will continue late in the night, not without a mischievous tribute being paid to the city’s most famous star, our very own "Manneken-Pis".

Ommegang @ Grand Place

What?
The Ommegang remains the oldest historical ceremony of the immaterial inheritance of Brussels. Created during the 14th century, this ceremony was devoted to the miraculous statue of Our-Lady on the Branch which was transferred from Antwerp to Brussels at that time.
With the passing of years, the event gradually lost its spiritual dimension to be transformed into a procession intended to show the wealth of the middle-class and the notables of Brussels. Nowadays, the tradition has persisted and the event is a strong moment of the cultural and historical life of the capital. The procession will be starting at the” Sablon” to end on the” Grand Place with 1400 participants dressed in costumes marching to medieval music.

Cote d’Ivoire is a country in West Africa with 322 462 Km² with about 20 millions inhabitants and the economical capital is Abidjan. It is known as one of the most hospitable country in Africa where many different cultures live all together (1/3 of the population are foreigners).
Cote d’ lvoire is a laic country but the major religions are Christianity and Islam, beside we have some animists.
There are about 60 local languages but the main language is French (spoken in all part of the country).

In Cote d’ lvoire you could have such amazing cultural experience as the country have lots of natural resources. Let me mention first the 600 Km of sea coast what means you can go to the beach at any time and eat lot of sea fruits. It's a green country in the south where you can test lots of several fruits and vegetables.
In Cote d’ lvoire you might get true African food mainly based on soups with meat and fish. All kind of animals can be food there mainly on lunch table ?
Finally if you’re browsing for the most enjoyable place in Africa, just click on Cote d’ Ivoire and you’ll see the best parties in all places at a cheap price. All African countries recognize our success in making the show with our dances (like coupé-décalé).

Country Presentations
One nice initiatives from YOU, the trainees side, would be doing country presentations. Why should you do this? Simply to promote your culture to other trainees and AIESEC members in order to be able to live more the value of "Living Diversity". How? Get in touch with trainees that are of the same nationality as you. Decide upon a place and date where it will happen. Prepare a nice country presentation and traditional stuff. Send this information to Gaëtan (gaetan.bouteiller@gmail.com) so he can promote it on the interns newsletter.

Housing
As we all are living in a foreign country we have some needs (finding accommodation, furniture, laptops, useful information, etc.). In order to make this settling down process more easy for all of us, if you know some good deals (someone leaves from Belgium and gives away furniture for free, there is a cool apartment next to yours at a cool price, you want to give away something, you hear about a cool concert happening in Belgium) send a mail on the interns group and let everybody know.
Have a good week !
